The Creative Award - Classic category is for campaigns that use the most fundamental and timeless elements of OOH – copy, text, images, location and most importantly, a brilliant creative idea. This category is all about showing what can be done by getting the basics right and reframing physical restrictions to become superpowers.
Some call it classic, some call it traditional, some call it paper-and-paste, others just call them posters. While there is always room to challenge the rules (this is a creative award after all), as a broad guide, Classic is not Digital and not a Special Build.
The creative itself is static but can be on a moving vehicle or ad scroller. They are often printed on paper or vinyl, can be any size, illuminated or not, but importantly, must be able to be bought as a standard media buy. Murals can be considered Classic if they are on a surface specifically designated for murals and can also be bought through a repeatable media buy available to others. No special builds, digital or bespoke locations (there is a separate category for Special Builds).
Nominations can only be made by WOO members, but we actively encourage you to nominate ANY campaign you think is worthy of an award, from any country, from any client or agency. If you have a connection to the campaign, all the better. The WOO Awards are to celebrate and elevate the very best OOH campaigns in the world so feel free to nominate multiple campaigns.
